MiMa Ingelheim "Waste - happy coincidence?"
- sponsored by Midas -
The exhibition "Waste - happy coincidence" introduces young and old to the topic of ‘waste’, educating visitors, raising awareness and encouraging them to rethink their own behaviour.
With the motto ‘Waste - happy coincidence?’, the MitMach-Ausstellung (MiMa) in the Ingelheim market hall opened its doors once again on 15 June 2024. This year, the MitMach-Ausstellung, which is under the artistic direction of Katja von Puttkamer, combines the past and the future to communicate the importance of waste and its impact on our planet in a child-friendly way.
As in the previous year, Midas Pharma is once again sponsoring the exhibition, which relies on financial support and the dedicated efforts of volunteers. In addition, Midas employees took part in a large waste collection campaign to provide materials for the workshop area of the exhibition.
As in previous years, Midas employees and their families were invited to an exclusive afternoon at the exhibition. Over delicious food and drinks, they were able to explore the various stations of the MiMa and get creative in the workshop. The event was led by trained guides and the MiMa organisers Stefanie Firyn and Renata Stark, who provided interesting background information on the stations so that both young and old guests were able to get a lot of interesting information.
Stefanie Firyn und Renata Stark, overall management of the MiMa exhibition Ingelheim:
"Waste - happy coincidence?"
What does waste have to do with happiness? How do they go together? Excessive consumption of resources and mountains of waste leave their imprint on our planet and are huge global problems. MiMa looks at earlier times, connects the past with the future and finds a child-friendly language. MiMa educates, sensitises and introduces visitors young and old to the omnipresent topic of ‘waste’. Because - if we ask ourselves how we want to live in the future, raising awareness and sensitising children and young people to the effective avoidance of waste is of crucial importance. We draw attention to materials and try to make them rethink their own behaviour.
What began in 2004 as an innovative idea to communicate knowledge has now established itself as an integral part of the region's cultural life and is recognised far beyond the borders of Ingelheim. For 20 years now, MiMa has been committed to cultural education for children and young people with its exhibitions and activities. The current family exhibition ‘Waste - happy coincidence?’ has already attracted around 12,000 visitors to the Alte Markthalle since its opening in mid-June. You can still visit the MiMa until the end of the holidays on 27 October.
Midas Pharma has been a sponsor of the MiMa for several years. To thank them, the chairwomen of the sponsoring association, Stefanie Firyn and Renata Stark, together with the State Secretary for Culture, Prof. Dr Hardeck, presented Midas with a MiMa star to celebrate the anniversary. This award was handed over at a ceremony.
Today, MiMa is an important alternative to the digital playground and inspires thousands of visitors young and old with its unique approach.
MiMa encourages visitors to try things out for themselves, following the motto "marvel, touch, understand".
We look forward to many more years with the fantastic Midas team!
MiMa Ingelheim - learning playfully and intuitively
"Waste - happy coincidence?" deals with the question of what happiness has to do with waste and invites visitors to answer this question in a very playful way. Visitors can decide for themselves whether they want to hunt for rubbish monsters, get creative in the up-cycling lab or take on the role of archaeologists and learn about the importance of rubbish as a source of knowledge.
After their visit, the colleagues and their families could enthusiastically confirm that the successful MiMa concept helps visitors young and old to find a playful approach to topics from our immediate environment. Experiencing with all the senses makes complex issues understandable and tangible.
CONCLUSION: We will be back!
MiMa is open until 27 October.
The next MiMa event is a charity concert called ‘Die KATZEN. Waiting for Christmas’. The concert will take place on 6 December 2024 at 7.30 pm in Haus Burggarten. The Christmas programme guarantees an unforgettable evening and a swinging mood for Christmas.
